Harvest Roundtable
The Area 23 Harvest Roundtable is the primary contact for DFO related to multi-sectoral/interests making recommendations to the Department on “in-season” decisions related to salmon harvesting in Area 23.

The goals of the Harvest Roundtable are to ensure fishing plans are coordinated and integrated, to identify
potential conflicts, and make recommendations for solutions if possible.
​
I​n-season members include:

One official representative from each of the areas D, G and B of the Commercial Salmon Advisory Board (CSAB)
-
One official representative from Bamfield, Port Alberni and Ucluelet of the Sport Fishing Advisory Board (SFAB)
-
One official representative from each of the Maa-nulth First Nations, or one collective representative as per the preference of the Yuu-cluth-aht First Nation, Uchucklesaht Tribe, Toquaht Nation, Huu-ay-aht First Nation, and Ka:’yu:’k’t’h’/Chek’tles7et’h First Nations)

One official representative from each of the following First Nations: Hupacasath and Tseshaht

One official representative from the Barkley Salmon Working Group

Official representation from appropriate DFO sectors.

In addition to the in-season members, pre and post season meetings will include other stakeholders who are affected and have data to contribute to these discussions. These include but are not limited to:

City of Port Alberni

Alberni Clayoquot Regional District

Provincial Government.
